Blood

Today I received my copy of the new In This Moment CD , Blood; two days before its official release. It is another amazing album from Maria Brink, Chris Howorth and co but was let down by their record label.

The European arm of Century Media (the band's label) where unwilling to allow non-US fans to order the US t-shirt/CD combo pack which they allowed with In This Moment's previous release, A Star-Crossed Wasteland, instead forcing non-US fans to miss out on the t-shirt designed for the album release. No alternative method of buying the t-shirt or any similar promo offer was given to European fans who now starting to miss out as a result of the greed of one arm of the Century Media label. The same thing has happened with other Century Media artists and is likely to continue due to greed and the inability of these companies that expand across the globe whilst being unwilling to work as one instead of lots of small companies trading with the same name passing the buck to every other branch instead of taking collective responsibility under the one name.

No doubt the band had nothing to do with this it's just record label ethics to screw over the very people that are providing them with the money to survive.

Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter

Having not read the Seth Grahame-Smith book and only having a basic knowledge of the Lincoln legacy I didn't know what to expect. What I found however was a great action movie that both educated and entertained.

Ok so the vampires weren't real in the true Abraham Lincoln story but everything else was. After watching the movie I was left wanting to know more about the history and impact that Abraham Lincoln had on the world. As I delved into various historical sources I found that the Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter movie was pretty much true to the Lincoln diaries and that Seth Grahame-Smith had creatively spliced the vampire storyline into them. I'm sure there are many people (no doubt the majority being from the USA) who find this to be some kind of blasphemy against Lincoln and his legacy but to me it highlighted his achievements and life struggles whilst adding a nice twist to them.

With how well done this movie was I look forward to seeing movie adaptations of other historical pieces that have had a horror twist intertwined. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, another Seth Grahame-Smith book, being one of those that I'd love to see adapted to film.

I can't wait for Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter to hit DVD and Blu-Ray.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter

Wednesday 20th June 2012 sees the UK cinema release of Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter, the movie adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's best selling book of the same name. I like the idea of adding a new fictional twist to the story of a well known historical figure and hopefully the movie will see the fictional merge seemlessly and effectively with the reality the way it does in the novel.

From the trailers I've seen it looks like it will be a pretty good action film and I for one can't wait to go and see it. Hopefully it will be on TheLight in New Brighton on release day.
